How we work it out
Subscriptions = your monthly bill × 12, increasing once each year for five years. Owned = build budget + 60 months of ongoing costs. Workaround time = weekly hours × hourly value × 52 × 5. No inflation is applied to hosting or time. Excludes financing, tax effects and future development. Use amounts on the same GST basis.

Isn’t a build more expensive than a subscription?
It can be. A custom build has a bigger upfront cost and isn’t the right answer for every business. Compare the build and ongoing costs with what you actually pay over several years. The calculator gives you a starting point; the audit helps define the scope.
Does owning it mean no ongoing costs?
No. Hosting, maintenance, third-party services and future changes can still cost money. Those need to be scoped separately from the build. Ask for the complete cost picture, including support and handover terms, before committing.
What happens to our live jobs and old data?
Migration and rollout belong in the plan from the start. We review what can be exported from your existing tools, what needs to move, and how the new workflows can be tested before switching. The approach depends on your systems and data.
Will it work for my team and subbies?
That starts with understanding their day, devices and site conditions. Simple access, mobile workflows and poor-connectivity requirements are scoped around the people who will use the system.
What exactly do we own?
Ownership, access to code and data, third-party licences, documentation and handover need to be explicit in the build agreement. We walk through those details during scoping so you know what you’re getting and how it can be maintained.
